Yoga and mindfulness practices have the potential to radically improve the lives of individuals and communities. When shared skillfully, with authenticity and awareness, these practices can be a powerful force for social justice and healing across all segments of society. Join the Yoga Service Council and the Omega Institute for a very special four day conference that offers an experience of true community. One where each individual’s voice and wisdom is valued, the hard questions are explored, and a shared commitment to effective service fills the campus with so much optimism that anything seems possible!

What to Expect
At this 4th annual Yoga Service Conference, we will explore together issues of social justice, inclusion, safety and community building. We will learn from experts about the impact of both trauma and yoga on the body and the brain. We’ll hear about the most recent research in the field, and explore practices to cultivate our own compassion and capacity for meaningful relationship. We will co-create the language of sharing these practices with social institutions, and we will have many opportunities for our own self-care, with daily yoga and meditation, guided by exceptional teachers.
Breakout workshops sharing concrete tools that you can integrate immediately into your work will be offered on Friday and Saturday, and you will have the opportunity to choose from classes across three distinct tracks of study designed for: Yoga Teachers, Social Service Providers, Organizational leaders.
In the spirit of community building and learning from each other, facilitated discussions will be offered on working with specific populations, and Saturday evening a Yoga Service Exhibition brings together the founders and leaders of dozens of service organizations from across the country for an opportunity to share their groundbreaking work.
New this year will be opportunities to sign up for one on one mentoring sessions with YSC board members and advisors on issues such as organizational development, fundraising, outreach, training teachers, and other requested topics.
We believe everyone should have an opportunity to attend the Yoga Service Conference. If you want to attend but need a little help, we will be accepting applications for scholarships between Jan 1 and Feb. 28, 2014. Check back then.
