Yoga Service Council Cancels it’s May 2020 Conference Due to Coronavirus

Rhinebeck, NY – (March 13, 2020) – Given the global health crisis and concern related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Yoga Service Council (YSC) has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Yoga Service Council Conference on May 15 – 17, 2020.

“The safety of our community and their health is one of the most important aspects of how we support one another.  While we are deeply saddened that we will not be able to embrace, break bread and engage in deep conversation with amazing individuals, we feel it is a responsible decision for the safety of all presenters, faculty, attendees and far-reaching members of our community, to cancel our annual event” Rajni Tripathi, Executive Director, Yoga Service Council.

“This is a necessary step to mitigate exposure to all populations, but especially to the vulnerable populations that our teachers and attendees would return to and support,” Board Chair, Lynne Boucher added.

The 2020 Yoga Service Council Conference was to be the YSC’s annual, 3-day event held May 15 – 17, 2020 held at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY. The subject matter of this conference largely focuses on critical, leading-edge conversations around yoga and sexual trauma, LGBTQIA+ communities and yoga service, cultural appropriation, yoga, and mental wellness and much more.

We will work to create conversations on these critical subjects with experts as we move further into the year, and look forward to connecting with our valued communities for the annual YSC Conference in May 2021, which enjoys the distinction of being the 10 year anniversary of the start of this groundbreaking conference.

Yoga Service Council encourages everyone to consult the World Health Organization and organizations such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the most up-to-date information and guidance on the coronavirus (COVID-19).
