Nan Herron, M.D. is a psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of individuals struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Nan started practicing yoga about 20 years ago and became a certified yoga teacher shortly thereafter, noticing that yoga made a huge impact on managing her own anxiety.

She then went on to practice and learn to teach meditation in the schools of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), mindful self-compassion (MSC) and trauma-responsive innovations for mind and body (TIMBo).

Nan also works closely with the first responder support network (frsn.org), addressing the effects of post-traumatic stress on first responders. Five years ago Nan made the wise choice of migrating to California where she delights in the sunshine, vineyards and hiking trails of beautiful Sonoma County.

Nan spends most of her days on locked, in-patient psychiatric units blending traditional western medical approaches with DBT, EMDR, yoga and mindfulness to help people embrace life fully. She teaches workshops on the neurophysiology of mindfulness, mindful eating and drinking, and trauma-informed yoga.
